No, you communicated it well; I just disagree. It won’t work out because in the end whoever controls the money will have control. Period. Its the same thing you talk about when you speak of our corporate overlords. It will just recreate a lesser level of overlord.
It might start out more like how you envision, that is more in line with how life was prior to industrialization. Everyone worked and was invested in the family farm. But it will inevitably lead to disenfranchisement and some people (women) providing free labor upholding society, and having little to no access to financial markets and institutions or control over their own lives because of it.
It will make slaves out of certain segments of the population. It’s feudal. It can’t be otherwise unless all labor is paid labor.
The only way forward for women is to maintain and expand autonomy from men (traditional male control of institutions not individual men as legit partners) or for women to start being paid for having children by the state for producing and training a capitalist resource. It is a job, after all.
We pay farmers to not grow crops or to grow crops we can’t use or sell. We bail out businesses after reckless behavior. We pay some people to not work.
Why can’t we pay women a salary for the children they have and raise? They’re actually providing something tangible and valuable to the nation, unlike a lot of other government waste to prop up failing businesses, etc. Then they could stay home and grow community businesses, raise the next generation, etc and not be impoverished for doing so, or end up as slave laborers again, with no choice, and no say, and no autonomy in life but the drudgery of being a brood mare and scullery maid.
Thanks but no thanks. I’m old enough to remember how it was for my grandmothers and to have heard their stories of how their mothers toiled so that they could take advantage of new opportunities. Like voting and going to college.
Do you have any idea what my great grandmother sacrificed to send my grandmother to college? Why in the world would I sentence my daughter or my granddaughter to that level of drudgery ever again?
