No. They're not....If that was the dream.

Look, you get to being a SAHM through a few routes. First off, you either choose it or it gets chosen for you.

For those who choose it, what do you think they're giving up? It's what they want. It's what they wanted all along.

And why would other women or feminists in particular (since that's always the conservative narrative) look down on that?

It's the feminist dream that women have automatic and unscrutinized autonomy to make decisions about their own lives that is best for them. As far as feminists are concerned, these women are living the feminist dream every bit as much as a "Boss Babe" ....provided it was their decision, they weren't pressured, and they knew what they were getting themselves into. They're getting to live a life of authenticity, for them.

Next, we have to quash this notion that SAHMs aren't doing anything but raising children. Not true for women who chose it. They're homesteading. Farming. They're travelling in schoolies. Making a little extra money in various ways. Maybe using those early childhood years to continue their own education for when the kids are older. They're starting their own business. They're making money working part time remote jobs. They're supporting their communities.

So even when you are a SAHM because it was your dream, your family might be your focus, but it's not your whole world.
Never was.

The thing is, far too many SAHMs didn't get there by that autonomous, educated choice. They got pressured into it or it got chosen for them from circumstances. They're trapped.
