No she is not. You’re absolutely right. She’s no martyr.

I get Timothy Spado’s argument about the incitement. What he fails to realize is that in the end we choose who to follow and who not to. Who we give power to. Who we stand with and not. We all do. That’s part of adulting. If a leader betrays the trust you’ve given them then you stop following them and strip them of the power you gave them. It’s that simple. You become a voice of dissent.

The people who insurrected on Jan 6 were there because they chose to be. Because they agreed with Trump. Because they wanted him to represent them. Which means that his beliefs are a reflection of theirs. By choice.

Willful ignorance does not excuse actionable choices, the consequences of those choices, or the accountability that follows.

I’m not seeing much reflection or accountability out of them. I’m seeing a whole lot of whining, deflecting, and doubling down. Which means they don’t regret their choice or their actions. And the power they gave is exactly where they want it and they’re still happy with it being there.

This is who they are. This is the bed they made. And they are perfectly content snuggled up under the blankets of ignorance, greed, corruption, misogyny, racism, poverty, and exploitation.

So be it. In the end you ride the whirlwind you reap. Just don’t expect everyone to ride with you because you think you’re a good, decent person. If you were truly decent, you’d be making the choices of a decent person. You’d be investing yourself into making sound choices that don’t hurt other people. Because that’s what actual decent people do.
