No offense, but you're being equally reductive.

If you want to know why teenage girls are depressed, why don't you ask them?

The study was based on a survey, so what did they say?

I have a teenage daughter, so I'll take a stab. We have a good relationship so she talks to me about what's bothering her. So do a lot of her friends. Urchling had three friends who are or have been suicidal and maybe 10(?) who have self harmed. Probably more if you count disordered eating.

1. They feel like they have no future and nobody cares.

2. They were forced to attend school under threat of being killed by one of their classmates, or some other random maniac, and none of the adults can be fussed to do anything about it.

3. Sexual harassment, assault, stalking, and bullying are on the rise, and they feel abandoned to deal with it on their own.

4. The environment is in jeopardy, were facing collapse and political leaders are feckless idiots. The adults keep voting them into office.

5. TikTok is about to be axed and they'll have no way to educate themselves. They know they're not getting a decent education going to that place where they might get shot.

6. All their friends are depressed, so even if they're more or less okay, every single one of them has multiple friends and family they're constantly worrying might commit suicide.

7. They don't want to be forced into a religion that hates women, forced into marriage so boys won't go on murder sprees, or forced to have babies they can't take care of only to have them ripped from their arms because the adoption industry needs fresh meat.

9. They realize a corpse now has more legal rights to bodily autonomy than they do. They're terrified of dying from pregnancy complications or just being pregnant and it ruining their life.

10. They don't want to be saddled with debt like Millenials were, and they're watching standards of living tank. I'll refer you back to the feckless idiots about what's being done about that.

But yes. Liberalism and parents, especially the mothers since your addition of fathers seemed somewhat of an afterthought.

Those damned single mothers. Everything is their fault.
