No. It’s not just you. You’re quite right. I wish people would get it through their heads. It matters who you choose to lead. And it matters why they were chosen. If you stand behind someone who cheats on their family they will chest with public funds — your money. If you support someone who is vicious toward a group you don’t like, that viciousness will be used against you if it brings them what they want. And so forth and so on. It matters. Corruption begets corruption.

We create a lot of our own problems in society by who we choose to listen to, emulate, prop up, and follow. A lotta lotta people in positions of power and with power have absolutely no business having it. We collectively let them retain it to our own detriment.
