I wasn't comparing murders between men and women. If you look at it like that, and that alone then male murders are what's "staggering".

If you look at it like who the murders area then again, with 90% of all homicides committed by men, that's "staggering".

Then you look at why women are being murdered vs why men are being murdered. 58% of women are murdered by intimate partners or family members which means that 58% are murdered over some idea of sexual or romantic control. Compare that to the reasons why men are murdered, a scattershot of various grievances, and in what universe are those numbers not "staggering".

I didn't use the term for emotional impact. The bodies are enough of an emotional impact. I used it because it's accurate.
