NBA players don’t make decisions that affect the lives of the rest of us, sometimes with deadly consequences. Their function in society is solely entertainment. So, your counter analogy doesn’t really work.
It does matter that all branches of government are heavily loaded with white men. It’s not truly representational of the population. I’m not saying that white men are evil or that white men can’t do well in governance by that. White men should be in government because they are part of the population.
I’m saying that we all see and evaluate life through the lens of our own perspectives. We all have vast and different lived experiences. I’m saying that the best government will more properly reflect the population so that all those lenses are present and accounted for when it comes time to make decisions that affect people’s lives and their ability to thrive.
And yes, I understand the conundrum because those jobs are filled by election.
