Nah. It’s been brewing a lot longer than that. Stacking the Supreme Court just made it possible. But, it’s the red states that are passing the laws, so separate govt body.

The roots of this is in religious fundamentalism, all the way back to Reagan. Prior to then, most churches honored separation of church and state and politicians weren’t the lackeys of extremist interpretations of religion. They couldn’t have gotten away with it.
