Most of us have nothing against men, we don't mind resoectdul male attention but men have adopted approaching random women in public and expressing "interest" in a manner that the woman cannot discern if he's an actual physical threat, wanting you to give him the services of a se worker for free, or just a complete doofus.

Either way, it's a relatively new phenomenon and extremely unpleasant.

We'd like that to end and men to be respectful with our time and our space.
