Most guys will happily disregard these comments as sexist jokes. Crude, but harmless. They cannot see or hear the implicit threat or the out and out declaration of wanting to hurt/kill women.

Especially from men they admire or who are sitting in places of leadership in places/institutions they respect.

Even though this comment was bold and it was clear, many men will gaslight themselves into an alternate interpretation of meaning or version of events just to not have to face the reality of violence toward women or face having to deal with being attached to it in any way.
