Mmm...thing is, as a private company Twitter, TikTok, Facebook, or companies aren't required to protect free speech legally, at least here in US. The first amendment prevents the GOVERNMENT from stifling free speech. Companies can set whatever policy they want and if you want to use their service, you agree to their terms of service. So...they can set whatever rules they want. Trying to honor the spirit of the first amendment has been a customer courtesy. Looking at it that way, if they crack down, that's on us for being bad customers and negatively affecting their ability to conduct their business. Just like how restrooms are routinely locked now because of graffiti and mess, laundromats are locked because of theft, vandalism, and people using the washers as a toilet, lockers for backpacks because of theft, and so forth and so on.
Don't get me wrong. I fully believe in and support free speech. However, a business won't stay in business long if they continually allow customers to attack each other and break their structures.
