Meh. Is it though? If your options are choosing between one sort of bad and another sort of bad and it's been presented to you that you HAVE TO make a choice....then it's not like there's really an option to choose better. It's just choosing between bad options the one you think you can live/deal with the most readily.
Ultimately, that's still shitty and it's not going to make you happy.
It also makes a false assumption that at the time of choosing your options have presented themselves honestly, completely, and forthrightly. That's actually quite rare. It assumes you have a full comprehension of what you're choosing. Most people don't know themselves at the time they start choosing partners. How could they then be expected to truly see and know their counterpart? Let's be real. "Choose better" is a cop out. It's a cringe statement that shows lack of empathy, self awareness, or comprehension of basic life.
As a result, wimen are refusing to choose now. When faced between bad and bad, better option is to walk away.
