That reminds me of the biggest tell that what were saying here is accurate.
My grandparents generation, travel was still difficult, particularly if you had health issues. But I remember my grand.lther being absolutely devastated that she couldn't make it to her 50th high school reunion. And it was common to hear that generation talk about theirs.
Further, they remembered all their classmates. They were able to pick back up and carry on after not seeing each other for all those years like....long lost friends. If even for a night.
A few years back, my dad went to his. Same thing.
Those generations literally grew up with their classmates. They were in the same class for 12 years. They remembered each other. I was always impressed by that. They remembered each other, as friends, after not seeing each other for decades.
But now, you've got a different group of kids every year and after 4th grade, for every class. Nobody remembers their classmates anymore. You don't hear the (now) older groups talking about going to reunions.
I have teachers in my family. They've said they don't do reunions anymore in many places because no one comes.
The experience has changed so profoundly. Boomers just can't comprehend.
