Maybe, but Taylor Swift is not a "talking head" of the left.
For the longest time, like most entertainers she wasn't public about her political beliefs.
It was Donald Trump's lies that basically forced her hand and even so, it wasn't a quick and easy decision. Trying to tie himself to her name like he did. She's on camera bickering with her dad (I think it was her dad) about it and what it might mean to her name recognition, how the public will take it, etc. Ultimately she decided it was worth losing some fans and be remembered accurately, with her integrity intact rather than live with feeling like a sell out, someone who didn't take a moral stand when the moment called for it....to protect their wealth.
She comes from money but she's Appalachian. Born and bred. I get why Trump's lie was a gut kick to her. Just goes to show he DOES NOT understand the people who support him, because the majority of Appalachians do support him. They don't see he doesn't truly share their values and he's just using them. He looks down on them just as much as the elitist liberals theyve come to dispise and will never trust again.
But that's what Trump is. Classic New York elitist. Leopards don't change their spots that easily. At this point, he's nothing more than a wolf in sheep's clothing in regards to Appalachians.
Even so, mutual fans can't handle the cognitive dissonance and that's where all these conspiracy theories are coming from. Because, inherently, they DO know TS is one of theirs. Like recognizes like. She lives and breathes family and faith.
Trump doesn't.
Taylor Swift is who she has always been. Always. I'm not saying she hasn't grown and matured, but her core being is who she has always been.
Celebrities are citizens too. They have both the right and the moral obligation to vote their conscience. Same as everyone else. If she is asked who she plans to support and why, it's her right to state her reasons, same as anyone else (and don't forget, at every election news crews are out at voting locations asking people about how they voted. Street polls are popular before election day and have been for a while) or to decline to answer because the votes are secret. Nobody knows how you voted unless you tell them.
People.can complain about "undue sway" of celebrities, but that's a personal problem. We all learned in civics class about the sacredness of the vote. You vote YOUR conscience, not your spouse's, not your neighbor's, not your preacher's, not your friend's, not your boss's, not you favorite celebrity's. YOURS.
YOU are responsible for YOUR vote.
🤐🥴
Sorry. Voting rights and responsibilities are one of those things I tend to get passionate about.
