Lol. Reminds me of my Dad and telemarketers who called during dinner time and refused to take that subtle (roughly the size, shape, and weight of an anvil) hint that it's dinner time and refuse to get off the phone. Nobody likes overly pushy sales tactics.
That doesn't make you a Karen though. Not until you've called the police on them, you're faking distress from being threatened, and it's racially motivated.
Contrarian yes. Karen no.
I had an argument/discussion with someone some time, I guess about a year back, here on Medium about how Karen was doomed to fail because there was no way the term would not become a gender slur used to shut women up rather than a call out against racism. Most young BIPOC didn't agree.
And here we are.
I realize this piece is meant to be funny and you're not using the word as a slur. But you are using it in a manner that propagates it's further use as a gender slur by others.
Women who complain are not evil. They are not "bad" women. They are people who may or may not have a legitimate gripe and happen to have female reproductive parts. Complaints toward companies are not racially motivated. They do not harm companies; they are a means of redress or a push back against companies overstepping their bounds. Even if that company is minority owned and operated. The police are rarely involved.
It's just not the same as someone coming unglued and throwing a hissy fit in a store. Or using a legit complaints process to try to get free stuff. Or performative theatrics which may include calling the police to get an (BIPOC) employee in trouble. Those things ARE Karen/Ken behavior and let's be honest, it's not just middle aged white women doing those things. It's both genders.
I know, I know... I'm being picky and maybe over sensitive. As a middle aged white woman, I think it matters though. And you're a tough penguin. I know you can handle a little criticism without having a meltdown.
