Lincoln never owned slaves. Semantics over whether the Civil War was fought over economics or slavery are irrelevant when your economics are slavery economics. It’s also not a fair comparison to the wage/debt slavery going on in the north against impoverished immigrants. Two wrongs don’t make a right, but wage/debt slaves don’t have their children sold down the river. They can be fired and barred from work in a town but they can’t be cat-hauled, castrated, lamed, or otherwise tortured or maimed with absolute impunity.
