Like it or not we are group mammals. So yes, we are trained since infancy on our place within society and how to get along in a group. Same as for every other group mammal.

Clinical sociologists deal with what is. They don't concern themselves with what is natural and what is abstracted behavior based on societal rules. That's my point. A non sex related example, a clinical psychologist may help you with coping mechanisms related to debt or spending or being cheap and a tight wad. They don't concern themselves with whether or not money is a real thing or if it's naturally occurring vs an abstract created by humans. They may help you deal with crises of faith but they don't worry about whether or not God is real or which faith is best.

Now, there's nothing in the world wrong with a limited or narrow focus and there's a place for the work they do.

It's not the end all be all. It doesn't address a lot of things that are also worthy of due consideration and have a needed place. It's wrong to tout the work they do beyond the bounds of the limits or constraints of their focus. You can't make their work be more than what is was designed for.
