Kinda juvenile if you ask me. Fact is, the 'mean girl' trope is reductive to women. Most women have been “brutalized” by the popular girl and in turn have “brutalized” the popular girl or someone else. We exist across a spectrum of behaviors. This story just justifies condescension by the protaganist toward someone who may or may not have exactly the life she wanted. May or may not be in a state of change. It paints her as being the more evolved personality and 'better' when really she lacks self awareness to realize she’s just as bad if not worse. There was no growth or higher road taken here. And no consequences as a result, just arrogance and pride.

If that was the point, the piece is missing something. If not, you as the writer are missing a profound opportunity.
