Keep on them long enough and they’ll come right out and say they don’t care if abortion bans save babies or not. It’s all about saying that it’s wrong. It’s moral performance. It’s about being "right" to prove to themselves how morally superior they are. It really is a cornerstone of Christian Nationalism and nothing else.

That’s why they never choose to do anything that actually reduces unwanted pregnancy.

If people weren’t doing something or being trapped into something they have labeled as morally wrong, they wouldn’t be superior. You really have to appreciate the fallacy in their thinking here. In order for their Christianity to mean anything it has to be better than anything else. So you have to create a hierarchy and a set of conditions that must be met in order to prove that superiority. But nobody’s buying it and Christianity is on the decline, creating existential angst among it’s adherents and advocates. So they pile on more moral conditions to make it more exclusive and to try to force people into the ideology.

It’s the logic of a sick and twisted mind. I went toe to toe with a troll recently. After about 3 days of back and forth they came right out and said it. They don’t care about babies at all. It’s not about them.

Might as well choose to make it morally repugnant to walk on grass on Sundays, you’d get the exact same result. If you don’t actually care about the grass, you’re unwilling to do anything to help the grass thrive, and other people are not willing to adopt your weird belief and make their life decisions around it, then it’s just performative and completely meaningless, but HEY! You are so goddamned superior.
