Jaws is a really good movie. It never gets old. Perfect nail-bitng score too.
Also, believe it or not, Jaws was a topic in my Wildlife Conservation and Policy class back in college. We went over those very same scenes and the lecture was about being careful with the public so you don't inadvertently whip up a bunch of yahoos into a hunting frenzy because of one possibly rogue animal or outbreak scare or what have you and en's up with a decimated vulnerable population.
Like how every redneck Bubba in town hopped on a boat and went out to kill and and all sharks.
There was also much discussion about dealing with public officials and how they're going to be more interested in the economy and money, so you either have to have overwhelming public support, outside funding, or focus on the economic boon of whatever you want to do. Or, make sure you have funds or a plan in place to mitigate losses, if there's going to be any.
As you pointed out in your essay....it's much the same and this is a failure of liberal feminist thought. It's taken my entire life, half a century, for liberal feminists to give up on men and do what they should have done back in the late 70s/early 80s and again during the late 90s/early aughties.
