It's the debilitation that's the greater concern, not the direct deaths. 10% of the population will be permanently/ semipermanently debiliated by long haul COVID. That's going to reduce the chances of them and their immediate families and be more of a buden on the system overall when and as the climate catastrophes pick up.
2nd main consideration is COVID's recombinant ability to make other viruses worse. It very well could be the cause or vector in the
creation of a new superbug like smallpox or Ebola that wipes a huge percentage of us out.
