Its rejection once said boy/man is visibly lusting after someone else who clearly has no interest in him other than even see you.

I mean, you can tell if a guy is just in his own head or busy or just being obtuse to his surroundings.

No. What I'm talking about is a well known phenomenon amongst women and also the inspiration for many a teen rom-com, the "Cinderella" effect. It goes like this. All the boys want the cheerleaders, a hyperfeminine stereotype. They either vie for them actively or worship them / yearn for them from afar.

No other girl exists.

And that's the plot construct for many a teen rom-com. The pretty but plain 'girl next door' type who's just perfect for the male love interest has to get a make over to get the guy and outcompete the glamorous, hyper sexualized Lolita/Wild Things mean girl head cheerleader. The ugly duckling becomes a swan. Blah blah blah.

This is because the cultural pushing of sexual gender tropes to extremes warps men's perceptions till many of y'all are like bees trying to fuck an orchid. It's ridiculous. And it's warped women's till many of us are like Venus Fly Traps or Pitcher plants. Also ridiculous.

And everyone else has to muddle through all that noise and try to find someone. If you can't find a way to shut that noise out and be okay with yourself however manifests, and okay with wanting what you want, okay with going against the promoted grain, and okay with being patient about it, you don't stand much chance to be successful, mho.
