It's not that relevant that the fringe MAGAts are a minority. More important is the disproportional voting power they hold, though hopefully COVID thinned those ranks enough to mitigate gerrymandering and voter suppression GOP tactics.

Then there's the fence sitters and the "even a despot is better than a liberal/Democrat" who will vote Republican (and did) no matter what.
