It's not remotely a male trait though. Women routinely have two separate conversations going on at the same time.

Urchling and I are bad about this. We will both be talking at the same time about whatever and then respond to each other, again at the same time.

But we're not talking over each other. One isn't dismissing the other and one isn't trying to drown out the other by talking louder.

So this dynamic isn't "men's nature", it's men being perks.
