It's not just the societal mistreatment and violence, Mark.
It's in how men define themselves as a man.
Look, as a woman, I don't define myself by the negative space of what you are or what you represent. And I don't demonize or subordinate those things. I have no impetus to try to control them.
Men cannot say the same.
What is manhood without setting itself in opposition to femininity or feminine characteristics and subordinating those things in order to establish a male ego?
Until men have an answer to that, I don't want another in my life, romantically.
It's not that I hate men or have animosity toward them. It's just that holdi g the emotional bonds of a romantic relationship with a partner who thinks you're less than in order to define himself as a man is ultimately self destructive and dangerous to one's own mental health and well being. It's depressing living and loving someone like that.
