Its not just the belief of women that the bear is the better choice.

It's the belief of men.

We see this most profoundly in two ways.

Men have happily cast themselves around the narrative of being hunters. Alpha. Dominating women. Pursuit. Don't take no for an answer. It's all part of the dance.

Theyre not hunting food. Theyre hunting women. For sexual conquest. To define their manhood.

No theyre all shocked Pikachu that their prey would choose a potentially dangerous but generally peaceful animal over them.

And theyre raging about how much it hurts their feelings because they're all such stellar guys.

As though they've never been in a locker room or on Reddit. Or TikTok. Or listeninfmg to Andrew Tate, et al podcasts.

Hmm. Go figure.

The second place we most prodoundly see this is in the same question asked of fathers of young daughters. What they're saying again and again?

"A bear might adopt her and take care of her".

"At worst, a bear will only kill her. There's no telling what the man might do."

"I don't trust random/strange men!"

I find these interesting. The expectation is that the bear will most likely leave her alone to be found, but the man cannot be trusted to get her safely home and only that. And men don't trust other men with their loved ones either.

Wonder why that is?
