It’s not a partnership. It’s a fiefdom. And if you look back at fiefs historically, the peasants typically suffered a lot of abuse and deprivation. The only joy in their lives was within their own ranks far out of sight of the lord and having as little to do with him as possible.
The whole doctrine is not a good look for men. It is not from Christ. It is from Paul and based on his understanding of power and control dynamics that he modeled after Rome. Rome was a mighty empire and he wanted the church to rival that might, so that’s how he set it up.
Rome was so heavy handed they were constantly dealing with rebellion and uprisings. Paul didn’t think that through fully. Rome was only ever a good place to be if you were Roman. See the similarities?
Ephesians is a letter written by Paul to the Ephesian church. Even though it was canonized into the bible, thus making it holy an the "inspired word of God", this doctrine, piece of advice, command, whatever you want to call it, goes against anything and everything Jesus ever said, what he stood for, and what he believed.
The problem with most Christians and Christian churches, is that they do not follow Jesus Christ, the follow Paul.
You see the same toxic dynamics play out in the church and in many Christian families that led to the eventual collapse of the Roman empire again and again and again. That applies to Christian nations as well, including my own.
Christianity is too Roman and Rome has no place and no business in the modern world. We can no longer afford the hubris of Rome to influence human destiny. We’ve got to do better.
