It's because you don't stomp around acting like a bridge troll and see women as human beings not unreliable sex dolls.

Most of these guys will not talk to a woman unless it is an attempt to get sex. That's telling. It's also extremely ironic because as you pointed out, basic networking or socializing with a wide swath of people will eventually get you that date. Somebody may not want you, but that somebody knows people. Those folks know people too. Not acting like a bridge troll increases your chances of them introducing you to someone else then or later who might want you.
