It would only be reductive if one believed "the Patriarchy" to be the simplest, most basic component.

It most certainly is not. It is very complex and nuanced itself.

Funny that you'll embrace evolutionary psychology arguments to explain why we do things and think certain ways but not give our social structure, which is a Patriarchal dominance hierarchy the same considerstion.

Urchling points out that if a series of decisions that were made, at least in part, to be competitive in various ways for status is reductive, then so is your Yay Patriarchy, it's Awesome! sleight of hand.

I'll add that you assume we would never have had any of those things without it when the evidence clearly shows we advance more and to the benefit of more when we choose cooperation over competition.
