To your example, the whole reason we’re having a problem with mass murder in this country right now is because we won’t and can’t pass laws to prevent murder.
You cannot legislate morality.
Our laws against murder do not prevent murder, not are they designed to. They punish murder after it has occurred. Doing so may act as a deterrent somewhat but that is arguable.
As a social and self aware species, most of us are born with an inherent aversion to committing murder. We repel viscerally against the idea. It makes us literally sick. We have to be really warped to push beyond that enough to carry out the act. Full of hate. That natural aversion is more of a deterrent than any law will ever be. Most of us don’t need some crazy concept of Sky Daddy or a 2000 year old book to know that truth and know it deep in our souls.
Isn’t it funny how we have this inherent stop gap genetically encoded to keep us from murdering our own kind but that isn’t present in the case of fetuses. Hmmm. It’s almost as if life DOESN’T begin with conception after all, meaning abortion is not murder.
You’re wrong about abortion. Yeah, RvW is about to be overturned, but it is not the victory you think it is. It will not stop abortions. You’re not saving any or many unborn. Many of the ones you do will wish you hadn’t. You just won’t know about it anymore. It will go back to being a dirty secret so your minority can be more comfortable.
