It showed that women actually messaged men on okCupid in line with their perceptions of a man's attractiveness. Average looking men for the most messages and the most attractive men for the least amount of messages. In other words, women are doing just what we've been saying. Sure looks matter some, but it's not as important as other things.
Men, on the other hand, disproportionately messaged attractive women. By a lot.
What I did find interesting was that men's graph line of women's attractiveness was more evenly distributed, it was a neae perfect upside down bell curve. Women's fraphbline of men's attractiveness was slightly skewed more toward average and unattractive.
But frankly, this is explained by two things. One, women are spending more time and effort creating and curating higher quality photos to post so you can simply tell attractiveness better. Men are posting pictures of themselves leaning up a car in poor lifhting or sitting hunkered down in a boat with their hats pulled way down holding up a fish.
The second thing is that men's numbering system and how you constantly rate us amongst yourselves in the same way you have all those dumb ass GOAT conversations would act to more evenly distribute perceptions of attractiveness. In other words, that near perfect upside down bell curve is evidence of group think more than anything else.
That 'study', it was never a real actual study with controls and checking fornbias and poor design, was more like a white paper or a blue paper. It's been so thoroughly debunked just using common sense, that version got yanked from the internet because men were going ape shit over it. You can't even find that version anymore, or so I'm told.
It got downgraded to a blog post because there's no actual science to it. Its a very limited survey that doesn't mean a damn thing except that most men ain't sit at maths and they can't read graphs worth a damn.
I actually ran across an article here on Medium the other day that showed those graphs and did a decent breakdown of what the blogpost said.
I've got to take Joopies for her morninf walk but I'll see if I can find it again and link you to it. I can't remember who weote it off the top of my head.
