It shouldn't. Look, you feel how you feel and unlike some of these douchebag guys losing their damn minds over this, I get the sense that you're being sincere here.
So let me just iterate that the guy in the woods isn't an average guy.
It's a random, unvetted guy, that you have run across in that absolute first moment when you notice him and you have zero information, impressions, data of any sort to diacern of he might be a threat to you or not.
Verses the bear, who on that same moment, you will know straight off of it it's going to be a problem and what sort of problem.
You yourself stated why women choose the bear.
The young lady who brought the guy home from the club. You have to know she wouldn't have done that if she had known beforehand that he was going to flip a switch and after flirting amicably all night suddenly turn violent and rapey.
We have a drug epidemic. Drugs and other stimulants go hand in hand with violence. You lose impulse control. It makes men more unpredictable.
Even though we do our best to vet and do all the things to keep ourselves safe, it's impossible to do completely once a man determines to harm us. There are too many men who want to harm women, too many ways to do so, too few checks on violence against women.
This hypothetical speaks to that.
You and men like you are seen and appreciated.
Perhaps you're starting to realize, like we did, that it's never going to be enough no matter what efforts you take to create protective bubbles. You can't keep women safe when society, the law of the land, and the resource developed and deployed to keep it say that violence against women is meh, unfortunate, but just the way it is. It's certainly not more important than men getting to cosplay being an alpha dudebro, for example.
And yeah, that cuts.
Also, masculinity isn't being denied, there's just been push back on extreme performative ridiculousness that's really a parody of authentic masculinity. Because there had to be. The DudeBros just went too far.
It's like, bimbos are a good stage routine or funny in movies, right? Cause it's a parody of femininity. But you'd have to be out of your mind to tether yourself to a bimbo for normal, regular, daily life. All the theatrics an the drama would drive you insane in short order, right?
DudeBros are the bimbos of the male world. The drama and theatrics are just too much for daily life. But it trended and got marketed and every guy suddenly wanted to be a DudeBro. And now they're pissed because no sane and rational woman wants to tether herself to a parody. They want the real deal. The average guy who's trying and wants to be there.
The bear hypothetical speaks to those things. It's not about the average guy at all.
