It must be very difficult to be a conservative and be a marginalized person. There's a reason why white supremacy keeps attaching itself to conservativism time and time again. It's a fundamental part of conservatism. And every time it happens, you have no political home. I'm sure they convinced themselves that it wouldn't apply to them or that they would be able to effect change from the inside, or they just had to earn their spot.

But you can't change what's foundational.
