It makes YOU feel like that. But you have no right to speak on behalf of all of us. Some of us are able to process environmental grief through their writings. Some of us, recognizing we’re not alone, feel less isolated. We’re galvanized to find community and inspired to do what they can, even though they know it won’t be enough and one person doesn’t make much of a difference.

Not everyone has to be coddled through tough times. Some of us just want the plain hard truth so we can deal.

You don’t want to read Jessica or Umair, then don’t read them. That’s your business. You’re misrepresenting their work and their words by calling them doomers though. You’re gossiping and spreading propaganda against them. They’re not doomers or divisive. They’re pragmatists, realists, pessimists, and sometimes cynics. There’s a place for them and their work is both necessary and meaningful.

There’s something wrong with having to be spoon fed hope, happiness, and accommodating optimism.

There’s also something wrong with trashing someone else’s work because it made you feel bad rather than just exercising some self control and reading something else for a while.

Your emotional and mental landscape is not their responsibility. It is yours.

It’s also not unnoticed that you’re doing the exact same thing you’re accusing them of. Making money by jumping on the “Let’s bash Jessica Wildfire and Unfair Haque" band wagon in the same way you criticize them for making money off of “doomer porn".

That’s so cheap.
