It has to do with it being endemic now. It's no longer worth it to take extreme measures to protect the public, any more than it's worth it for flu. The fact of the matter is, we had a small window of opportunity in which address Covid properly and for once, we had warning enough prior to it becoming unavoidable.

It was a truly rare opportunity. But we had Trump and an unhinged, unfit Congress. It does matter if leadership is actually fit to lead or not. You want someone who can handle a crisis, not who's more interested in creating them.

There's just learning to live with it now. And hoping when you get it, that you're not unlucky.
