We can’t count on technology being able to accomplish the same thing this time. For one, the task is much more difficult. For another, like it or not we are already in a state of catabolic collapse of our civilization. We’re running out of resources needed to apply new technologies too. Lastly, we’ll have less time and infrastructure to do so because we’re going to be further burdened with mitigating and cleaning up after climate change.
