In that case, I agree. Abusers need to serve their full sentences and there needs to be one sentence, not a range.

I do disagree with you on sentencing as it is now. I look forward to reading your article after you've looked into the stats. I read something years ago talking about the disparity of sentencing based on violence. Violent crimes committee by females for harsher sentences and were less likely to get parole or other forms of early release (work/release). For non violent crimes females were more likely to get reduced sentences, home confinement, parole, etc.

Is all that fair? No. Not from the sense of justice for the victims of the crime but prisons are about money too. If a woman commits a crime and has a child, it is simply more economical for the state to keep her out of jail rather than pay for her incarceration and foster care for her child. If she can be jailed at home with an ankle monitor and allowed to work, that is better for the state.

Same with men. It is better for the state to give male offenders parole, even a lot of the violent ones, than it is to build new prisons. Of course, the public outcry against that has led to the privatization of prisons, and inevitable mess from that.

Anyway, it’ll be interesting to see what you find, if things have changed that much, or if new data has disproven previous assessments.
