I’m thinking a big city like Chicago will have photos of their cops on the web. It would be easy to ID the guy if he really was an off duty cop.

If that doesn’t pan out, I’m thinking I’d try to find an artist to sketch the guy for me.

If you happened to get any skin or blood of the guy on your clothes or under your nails, I’d preserve and save it to be handed over.

I’m thinking that I’d go and see where any CCTV cameras were near where the incident happened. There’s a form you can sign to request the footage. It’s different for every state, so check requirements for Illinois.

I’m thinking I’d put out a request for any footage or witness statements via flyers, social media, word of mouth, etc.

I’m thinking I’d send every bit of that to the FBI field office for Illinois and make sure you refer to it as a racist hate crime.

I’m thinking I would also start pressuring the Illinois attorney general. Squeaky wheel gets the grease. Start making noise.

That’s just off the top of my head. This shit won’t end until consequences are pursued every time. It’s got to hurt them more than it does you.

Last thought. When I found the guy, I’d sue him for everything he’s got. Let his bigotry put the boy he assaulted through college instead of his own kids (if he has any). That oughta sting enough to leave an impression.
