I’m not sure impeaching Trump is a distraction.

I agree that you can’t ignore the forest for one tree, but if that’s the tree that’s spreading fire you need to put the fire out before you thin the forest of tinder trees.

Impeaching Trump, even if it’s post office, sends a message from the top down. It will force Republicans to stop pandering to the Big Lie for political positioning or lose their seat at the table as a result. His criminality WILL come out in the years ahead; he won’t be able to hide it anymore, blame others, or shift attention. People are going to have to face the TRUTH in order for this fever to break.

Simultaneously, from the bottom up, we need to start having some hard conversations about the rot within. As the author said, the press needs to put political interviewees in context or be held accountable.

On the ground, we citizens need to be more wary of these ideologies rising in our own neighborhoods and figure out ways to stop it spreading. We need to demand hate statutes being applied to violence attacks or at least looked at when one of these men commit a violent crime.
