I’m not sure about that. Some, yes. From what I’ve overheard people talking the last 3 years or so, a great many voted for Trump because:
- they figured any Republican is better than a liberal Democrat. Consequence of how polarized we are and how effectively each party has demonized the other.
- Habit. They’ve always voted Republican, no sense in changing.
- Misogyny. The most incompetent man in the country is better than the most competent woman in the country. (Not saying Clinton to be the most competent, I’m saying it wouldn’t have mattered).
- They’re so tired of partisan politics and fatigued with the endless gridlock, they wanted to throw a stone in the pond to disrupt the status quo. They saw this as either a means to go ahead and put the govt out of our misery or a last gasp effort to get the govt to see us, see what they’re doing to the country, grow up and work together.
Trump offered that. In a strange way, exactly because of his NPD. I’m not surprised by his appeal. I’m equally disgusted, but not really surprised.
