I'm half way expecting to see some sort of ark situation. We already know they're building bunkers and land.

Next step is some sort of ark, either on land or not, but where they attempt to preserve the "deserving" and leave everyone else to their doom. The Titanic is another analogy. We know who got locked below deck to drown and who got to hog all the lifeboats.
