I'm curious as to how you think you know what the maternal morbity rate in prehistoric times was. More like 20% over a reproductive life span based on known historical data. Numbers will reduce when you're talking about maternal morbidity rates per pregnancy.

It's not an assumption that women will die in childbirth. Women die in childbirth. Reproduction is more dangerous for human females than for any other mammal on this planet. Full stop. Women DO die in childbirth and complications from pregnancy. Especially without advanced reproductive health care, as we are seeing now thanks to draconian conservative policies. Women are dying from pregnancy and childbirth again.

It's not relevant to discussion of violence rates of an entire species to point out that the violence was mostly between subgroups.

The point is the biggest threat to women is men. The biggest threat to men is other men.
