I'm 50 and in good health. I've managed to not get Covid (that I know of and I've not been sick at all other than the occasional bout of allergies and hayfever) so far. Our mitigation strategies, including vaccination, have worked thus far.

I'm not prepared to say it's over. I know better. We have years to go. That said, whatever consequences (politically, socially, etc) we have to face are baked in now. Nothing's going to change that. So I'm not hand wringing either, I'm just getting on with it, keeping mitigation strategies in place and pushing back hard against anyone who violates that space.

At 50, I'm expecting another major pandemic in my lifetime. Probably when I get old, because I do believe in climate change and I'm not foolish enough to think that won't include waves of epidemics/pandemics, disease, and sickness over the next several centuries.

Our behavior during this one will dictate a lot of our response toward the next one. I'm talking about what leadership decides to do here.

We've proven we don't deserve help, will balk a it in fact, and will not even help ourselves as a society. Not even the slightest thing without a large portion of us losing our damn shit all over the place. Even threatening to murder the people working to ease suffering. Hi

It's not a good look. Why would they bother in 30 years when the next one hits? It would be like throwing money and resources down the toilet. It would be better to put it elsewhere. What will be will be.

I dread the next one. There likely won't be any help.
