If you’re Canadian the HERE to THERE will be different than for me, an American.

I’m not going to pretend I know enough about Canadian governance or Canadians in general to promote a route for y’all other than time and diligence will be obvious and universal key factors.

For us Americans, I’d say a couple of things need to happen across all levels

  • Exercises in critical thinking
  • Focus on mental resilience to propaganda
  • Broader education on governance
  • A reinvestment in national ethos as an intrinsic part of who we are… “We the people…”
  • Disclosure of money interests.
  • Bipartisan review of candidates and policies. What do we expect from them, what do they deliver.
  • Easier voting
  • How to spot fake news and verify validity of claims
  • Getting away from social media as a news source
  • Separating news from entertainment to in our minds

These things need to be addressed just within the populace. Problems with news reporting and responsibility of journalism and to the truth need to be addressed on a corporate level too. Congress has to be dealt with. We’ve got to fix the problems at the state and federal levels that led to this mess. Money interests, the electoral college, and gerrymandering need to be removed from politics. And so forth, and so on.
