If you write an article titled "Hitler was right" I would be intrigued enough to read. I would ask myself, "Right about what?" and focus myself on determining where you were going with your thoughts rather than fall into hysterics and start screaming you were ok with mass murder just because a title said Hitler was right...about something as yet undetermined. You might have been talking about Hitler’s views on the weather the summer of 1928, or how great his art was. The point is until we read with an open mind, we don’t know. And we can comfortably remove ourselves emotionally from the clickbaity nature of the title because Hitler is dead. We need never fear him again. He can’t ever kill anyone else.
I’ll say it again. Do try to pay attention. She never said Thanos was right in his choice of solution. In fact she point blank said it was morally reprehensible. Ergo, she’s NOT okay with mass murder nor is she advocating murder of any kind. Go back and read the article again, once you’ve gotten that chip off your shoulder. She said he was right to be "hair on fire" driven to act on climate change. Those are NOT the same thing. You’re conflating and you’re causing harm.
Hitler was a real person. He really did murder millions. Thanos is not a real person. His actions do not have the same emotional wallop to rational thinking people because they never actually happened. It’s fiction. Even if they had because you seem to want to keep some kind of weird fixation on mass murder, it would still be the “murder" of equally NOT real people. I won’t reiterate the reasons why disappearing people with a finger snap is not murder, practically or legally. It’s limbo.
Intelligent people can grasp this. Ergo, we can rationally look at what Thanos did and consider his point of view without any real threat to human life.
It gives us a chance to evaluate which is better, a quick death or a painful, long, drawn out one.
It gives us a chance to consider that not doing everything in our power to halt further climate change repercussions is a mass suicide pact. A mass suicide pact is an act of mass murder, one we are all participating in.
If Thanos is a mass murder, then so are the Avengers.... and following the inevitable bread crumbs.... so is every one of us because we’re refusing to act too. We’re choosing paralysis over doing even the smallest of things to begin to turn the tide.
Thanos' strategy, in that light was not worse than the Avenger’s response. Thanos snapped half the population out of existence, a stop gap. Half continued to exist. It’s not a permanent solution for obvious reasons. The Avengers ensured the extinction of all people. They committed a larger scale “mass murder" by returning the population to the suicide pact. Everyone would die, horribly, slowly, painfully.
Of course, the real solution would have been snapping his fingers and changing people enough to be aware and care, to limit their own growth, to practice and enact regenerative strategies across all walks of life, etc. The real victory would have been enabling people to save themselves.
Now that you’ve had some basic reading comprehension and her point spoon fed to you at least twice, could you stop banging that drum? Would you calm down and stop making so much noise? Would you stop lying and conflating? Your article was slanderous.
