I would say distrust or dislike here.

That's not the same as hate.

No one wants to re-expose themselves to mistreatment though. And that's true across all living things. That's even why plants evolved thorns.

It's not a moral failing to recognize the need to protect yourself, even if it does hurt the deer's feelings that the blackberry bush is full of thorns that make it harder for the deer to consume it.

The deer's feelings are secondary to the blackberry bush's need to survive.
