I would disagree.

Let’s look at the term through the perspective of time. If he hadn’t been promoting a theory of voter fraud well before the election I might agree with you.

But that’s not what happened.

He was crying widespread fraud, unless he wins of course, for months before the election. How can fraud exist before the event that was supposedly defrauded occurs?

It can’t.

Ergo… it’s a baseless charge. From the moment of first utterance until an actual crime took place, it was a baseless charge.

Let’s look at the term through the perspective of events and basic math. There are always instances of irregularities and voter fraud attempts in every election. Every election there are audits to button up these irregularities and prosecute people attempting fraud so it doesn’t happen again. These are always small, minor incursions to the process or small errors that do not typically do not effect results. There are processes in place to challenge results if there is adequate evidence.

To suggest that widespread fraud on a national level ruined the election when individual states are responsible for running their elections is just ridiculous. You’re talking about a coordinated fraud across multiple (there are more than 50 at state level; how many counties?) independent election systems in order to have occurred this way. It’s just not a credible or logical charge.

Ergo….it’s baseless. Saying it’s baseless here doesn’t mean there were zero problems with the election. It means any problems were very minor and did not affect the results.

Let’s look at the term through the perspective of an emotional lens. Just because a large dearth of people have been duped into believing a lie doesn’t mean the lie has any more actual credence or validity to it; it’s still a baseless lie. Many people have been convinced, once again, that the Earth is flat, that the holocaust didn’t happen, that the moon landing was a hoax. Believing in an alternate reality doesn’t change the facts of reality. It just makes one a stooge. It’s not a coincidence that the same people who believe the election was stolen believe cannibal cabals regularly dine on juvenile longpig in the DNC, that 9/11 was faked, and that Trump is Q. These people live in a rabbit hole of delusion. You don’t entertain that, you steer clear for the sake of your own sanity and peace of mind. It never ends with them.

Ergo… it’s baseless. Trying to appease the unreasonable does not make their allegations true. It just inspires them to become more and more outlandish and reckless with the truth.

BTW, I’m an Independent too. Baseless is not an incorrect term to use here.
