I wasn’t implying envy on your part or WOC in general, I’m honestly not sure how you got that.
I see injustice, inequality, and racism too. I experience them as well. I’m not saying it’s the same experience or that I experience them as much or in the same manner. It’s not that at all.
I’m saying being a member of the “benefitting group" of a dynamic of any of these things is NOT a pleasant experience if you don’t want that benefit or that you get a pass as a white woman from having to think about it or deal with it. The “boon” always comes with a price. It’s not been good for us.
If you’re beliefs and personality are such that your deepest desire is a fully egalitarian pluralistic society, these experiences can be quite wrenching. Again, I’m not saying it’s the same experience. I’m saying being white doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist for us, or that we can just ignore it easily or that we don’t experience pain from it. We do.
