I think we're talking about the same thing..

The societal trope is that teenage girls are absolute hell. Constant screaming, drama, and hysterics.

I have one; she just reached adulthood last year.

Zero screaming fits in more than 10 years.

Zero slammed doors in more than 10 years.

Zero histrionics in more than 10 years.

Also have not seen or heard about a lot of that from her friends. The ones I, quite frankly, it was family wide even if the teenage girl was the only one berated for it. OR, said complainer is conflating. They're calling genuine distress/upset that's appropriate and being appropriately and matutely expressed hysteria.

I'm saying the "they" who promote this trope are full of shit, based on my own lived experience.
