I think that was a universal "you" aimed at men and the idea that they're on top of things emotionally. They're not. They wouldn't be killing themselves at the rate they are, engaging in mass shooting sprees, increasing bouts of violence, or raging like so many of them are if they were truly emotionally literate.

I don't think the commenter meant the "you" to be directed solely at the author.
